Introducing the Blüthner Model 4 grand piano

Famous the world over for their singing 'Golden Tone', Blüthner grand pianos are meticulously handcrafted from only the very finest materials with exceptional attention to detail. Blüthner takes great pride in being the worlds last remaining 100% family owned and managed piano manufacturer, with each instrument being carefully tested to ensure it is worthy of carrying the family name.

At 6'11 in length the Model 6 is considered the perfect size for a grand piano, producing the tonal qualities of a performance instrument while remaining beautifully proportioned. It makes for a great alternative to the Steinway Model B, Bechstein B212 and Yamaha S6.

Only specially selected materials are used to construct the Model 4, including red beech for the back frame and rim, along with white alpine spruce for the soundboard.

A Renner action with Abel hammers has been chosen to complete the instrument, resulting in a warm, singing tone and a well balanced and responsive touch. A simply stunning handcrafted instrument which is a perfect choice for the larger home, recording studio or performance space and highly recommended.

Designed & Manufactured by the Blüthner family from start to finish

Since 1853, Blüthner pianos have been exclusively manufactured in Leipzig, Germany. To this day, the Blüthner family of craftsman and entrepreneurs continues to head the Blüthner firm and personally oversees the production of each piano bearing their name. They carry on the legacy of the founder, Julius Blüthner, to build the best pianos in the world, achieving the highest standards of precision and craftsmanship.

Crafted from the finest materials using traditional methods

Only the finest white high mountain spruce from selected alpine stock is used for the production of Blüthner's uniquely cylindrical shaped soundboards, with strict requirements including a straight-running grain and at least seven growth rings per centimetre. The finished boards are seasoned for many years to ensure maximum resonance and long lasting durability. The key bed is constructed of alternate layers of red beech and German pine resulting in a high degree of stability, while the iron frame is cast in a quartz sand mould and seasoned outside for two years.

Specially engineered hammers

The hammerheads of a Blüthner grand piano consist of a walnut core, covered with a dense, hard-woven felt. Blüthner felts are processed in a complex cold-pressing process that optimally protects and preserves their valuable properties, while the bright blue underfelt is recognisable in all Blüthner instruments.

Beautifully set up and built to last

Designed around Julius Blüthner's desire to produce the finest pianos in the world, each piano that bears his name is beautifully built and intended to be passed down through the generations. Each piano is prepared by our house technicians prior to sale and ready for a lifetime of service.
