Yamaha U1 upright piano
Measuring 121cm tall, the Yamaha U1 upright piano is the same size as the b3 and P121 but is manufactured at Yamaha’s main production facility in Hamamatsu Japan, alongside the CX series grand pianos. The more mature spruce of the U1’s soundboard over that of the b3 and P121, along with enhanced action component quality makes for an instrument that is consistently more resonant, responsive and ultimately more satisfying to play and to hear. The definitive choice for the home, practice room or teaching studio, and worth comparing against the Kawai K-500 and Ronisch 118K.
Key features:
Yamaha U3 upright piano
The larger of the U Series instruments, the 131cm tall Yamaha U3 upright piano incorporates many design features of the smaller U1, including its styling, long music desk and soft-closing fallboard. The U3S also benefits from a sostenuto pedal for selective sustaining instead of a practice pedal, giving it the same pedal functionality as a Yamaha grand piano. The U3 also features Yamaha’s unique ‘floating’ soundboard, enabling it to vibrate more freely and enhancing its resonance. A perfect choice for the advanced or professional pianist, the longer strings and larger soundboard of the U3 over the U1 also afford it a very similar tonal quality to that of a baby grand piano.
Key features:
High quality without compromise
Enhanced design, superior quality materials and the use of unique technologies to craft wooden components that are resistant to warping all amount to an instrument that is robust, responsive and resonant and certain to provide a lifetime of top-quality performance and reliable service. A Japanese-built Yamaha U Series instrument is a dependable workhorse, and as a sign of Yamaha’s enduring commitment to quality and durability, every new Yamaha U Series upright piano is supplied with a 10-year warranty for your peace of mind.
