Introducing the Kawai CA-701 Digital piano

A new Concert Artist piano series designed by Kawai to encourage players to become more accomplished pianists using an instrument that captures the essence of playing a concert grand piano. As soon as the player sits down, they are greeted by the instrument's flat fascia and tall upper board which immediately gives them the impression of a grand piano

Available in a choice of four attractive cabinet finishes: Premium rosewood, satin black, satin white and ebony polish, musicians are permitted to coordinate with a range of modern interiors and choose a piano that works for them and fits with their home aesthetic. The combination of both traditional and modern design elements reflects Kawai's rich acoustic piano heritage, while developing the latest instruments with technology to maximise their potential

One of the features included in the new Kawai CA-701 is the triple sensor key detection system for enhanced playing realism. The added third sensor improves responsiveness when playing the same key repeatedly and allows the sound of a single note to be gradually 'layered' without the previous tone being lost. This differs to the conventional two sensor keyboard actions which are found in most digital pianos.

Grand piano feel

With all 88 keys crafted entirely from long pieces of wood and finely textured ivory and ebony like surfaces applied to absorb moisture and assist control, the exceptional touch resembles that of a grand piano. Each of the wooden keys pivot smoothly on a balance pin and the ends rise and fall to replicate the familiar 'seesaw' motion of an acoustic piano.

To further enhance the grand piano feel of the CA-701, the pedal system accurately replicates the position and individual weighting of the damper, soft and sostenuto pedals on a concert grand piano. It is also possible to adjust the half-pedal sensitivity of the damper pedal, and effectiveness of the soft pedal using the Virtual Piano Artisan parameters. This allows experienced pianists to match their individual pedalling style by personalising the instrument's response to what suits them.

High quality and rich sound technology

An excellent selection of additional instruments are available to choose from including electric pianos, drawbar or church organs and more! This will help you to add great variety to your performances. The dual playing feature also allows for multiple sounds to be used and played at the same time, such as grand piano and strings, which help create a more richer tone. There is also a split and four hands modes divide the keyboard into two independent sections with separate sounds for each.

These latest Concert Artist digital pianos include a great sounding speaker system that has been specially designed to produce a deep bass and crisp treble frequencies. The lower range frequencies are are delivered through the underside of the instrument with the mid and high frequencies being p[projected outward via top-mounted speakers. With this feature, a resonating tone is produced that closely mirrors the immersive sound field of an acoustic grand piano.

A modern and classic design

The CA-701 cabinet design combines, sharp stylish lines, balanced rounded edges and elegantly tapered support legs to create a modern looking piano that will fit in any home aesthetic. You can choose from the four available finishes and choose the one that works best for you.

The taller and thinner body occupies less space than previous models that Kawai have made and helps to contribute to the piano's light character, yet it retains the classic wooden tone that give a sense of stability to the piano.

Ideal for progressing musicians to improve further

An included feature is the MP3/WAV playback and record which allows for musicians to learn chords or melodies for new pieces, or just play along with their favourite songs. It is even possible to record and entire piece and send it to your friends or family or to simply listen to away from the piano.

To further improve and develop piano skills, this piano also features traditional finger exercises, scales, and warm-up drills as well as including companion books for all classical scores to further aid your piano development over time.

Stream and learn with Bluetooth connectivity

The included Bluetooth connectivity and audio technologies allow for this piano to connect to smart devices wirelessly. Once it is paired with a phone, tablet or a laptop, pianists can enjoy a wide range of music-related apps, stream audio from songs directly through the speakers and further enhance their playing and learning experiences without needing to connect additional cables.

Record and save songs using the USB connectivity

In addition to wireless functionality, the CA-701 is also equipped with USB ports which allow musicians to connect the piano directly to a computer for MIDI use or alternatively load and save data onto a USB memory device.

The USB to device functionality allows you to record your music and store it safely within an internal memory to be safely preserved on USB flash drives. Standard MIDI files can also be downloaded from the internet and played back using the instrument's harmonic imaging XL sounds without any additional hardware or cables.
